Associate Director | Cost Management – Birmingham, UK. Full-time, permanent. Competitive Salary + Benefits Package.
TSA Riley is seeking a chartered Quantity Surveyor capable of operating at Associate Director level to join our Birmingham office. This is a rare opportunity to work on signature developments while contributing to the growth and direction of our growing and innovative business. We are currently partnered with several exciting clients which include large scale, prime high-rise residential projects in the city centre. In addition to our signature projects, we work on a diverse portfolio of projects across multiple sectors of the built environment.
As Associate Director, we would look to utilise your skills and experience on our largest and most complex projects and signature clients. We seek a well-rounded professional with strong technical skills, commercial awareness, and excellent people management skills. You will bring a proven ability to manage client relationships, deliver high-quality outcomes, and contribute to business development initiatives. Key tasks and responsibilities
* Work in a leadership role alongside a team of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, reporting directly into the Executive Director, while providing a cost consulting role to the client.
* Ensure clients achieve their objectives through close teamwork, proactive cost control and the provision of contractual advice.
* Manage clients and take an active role in profit and loss management for individual client accounts.
* Attend and/or chair meetings with clients.
* Prepare financial reports.
* Monitor project status communications.
* Prepare full tender documentation.
* Provide advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions.
* Advise on contract document suitability and preparation.
* Prepare management reports.
* Monitor performance milestones and deliverables.
* Administer cost/variation procedures.
* Carry out post-contract surveying duties including assessing variations, settlements and disputes.
* Provide day-to-day cost management from estimate preparation and cost planning through to final account settlements.
* Mentor and develop junior staff within the Birmingham office.
Desired qualifications and experience
* A relevant degree or master's qualification in quantity surveying or a similar subject.
* Full membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS or similar.
* Ability to autonomously carry out pre- and post-contract duties from conception through to final accounting.
* Strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement skills with experience in leading client relationships and delivering high-quality outcomes.
* Excellent people management skills with experience in managing small teams and developing junior staff.
* Strong commercial acumen and ability to contribute to strategic growth decisions and revenue growth for a business unit.
* Proven experience on large-scale construction projects within the built environment.
* Experience with large-scale, high-rise residential projects and the build-to-rent sector is desirable; however, candidates with experience on similarly large projects in comparable sectors are welcome.
* Familiar with common forms of contract such as JCT and NEC.
* Strong IT skills and proficiency with common software, with a willingness to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
