We have an excellent opportunity to join one of the counties leading employers in AC and DC Switchgear. This role does not necessarily require previous work in DC Switchgear; however, the ability to read engineering diagram, circuit diagram is essential, and working knowledge of control panels, busbars and switchgear will be very beneficial.
Key Requirements
* Full UK driving licence (clean) and ability to visit customer sites around the UK.
* Pass a Personal Track Safety (PTS) medical before final offer is confirmed.
* Willingness to work away overnight from time to time, with no overseas travel.
Interview Process
This role is available immediately and there will be a 2‑stage interview process.
Role 1 – Site Work
* On‑site service, preventive maintenance, repairs and testing of DC and AC switchgear.
* Help identify and resolve potential risks for site work projects.
* Provide on‑site customer support, problem solving and lateral thinking solutions.
* Provide detailed written reports and working recommendations.
* On‑call duties as part of a 24/7 call‑out service.
* When not on site you will be assembling switchgear products in the factory.
* Training will be provided by the client and will be your PTS sponsor.
Role 2 – Manufacturing and Assembly
* Interpret schematic and general arrangement drawings.
* Laying out panels.
* Panel assembly including preparation of metalwork prior to assembly, cabling, control wiring.
* Copper busbar work including forming and fitting.
* Liaising with engineers.
Health, Safety, Quality and Environment
* Ensure full compliance with the company’s Quality Management System.
* Ensure that all customer maintenance and service carried out fully meets the expected quality standards, and design intent.
* Fully participate in, and support any Safety or Quality investigation.
* Address any potential HSE concerns.
* Ensure that RAMS are up to date, followed and signed off.
* Carry out any other duties commensurate with the skills and level of the position.
* Be willing to take part in any training courses relevant to the position.
* This is a Safety Critical Role, as such you will be required to pass a PTS medical.
Essential
* Switchgear/Electrical assembly experience.
* Proven experience in a similar role.
* Ability to interpret wiring schematic and general arrangement drawings.
Desirable
* Engineering Apprenticeship.
* Engineering qualification.
Training & Certifications
Essential
* Full UK Driving Licence (clean).
Desirable
* ECS card.
* PTS.
