Children's Speech and Language Therapist

We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our newly established EHC part F team for a fixed term period. You would provide high quality, neurodiversity-affirming support to children and young people with an Education, Health and Care plan. You will play a pivotal role in supporting educational settings to create language and communication rich environments, provide coaching and training to educational staff, and provide direct assessment and intervention to children and young people within the school setting.
We are a supportive team with bases in Kettering, Northampton and Wellingborough.
Responsibilities
* Provide assessment and evidence-based intervention to children and young people with speech, language and communication needs as identified in their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
* Work in partnership with others e.g. parents, carers, education, and other health and or social care colleagues.
* The post holder will provide information and support to parents, carers, the wider children's workforce and other professionals.
* Manage own delegated caseload of children independently across a variety of settings.
* Work with school staff, the multidisciplinary team and the wider children's workforce to provide a coordinated approach to children's speech, language and communication needs.

Working life
As a Children's Speech and Language Therapist, you will:
* Work within educational settings and collaboratively with teaching staff and SENDCos.
* Identify, deliver and analyse a wide range of clinical assessments to determine the strengths and needs of the child or young person.
* Provide coaching and training to education staff.
* Develop with settings language, communication and neurodiversity-affirming environments.
* Contribute to Annual Reviews to update recommendations about what the child or young person needs.
* Maintain accurate records with access to technology to enable you to update records as you go.
The service aims to provide an excellent standard of care that supports patients across Northamptonshire. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the service and balance clinical appointments with other responsibilities and allocate significant time for intervention in every role.

* Confident in building relationships within a multi-disciplinary team and visiting new or unfamiliar settings.
* Capable of coping in diverse situations to deliver patient care.
* Communication skills, problem solving and good judgement are crucial.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience working with or supporting children or young people.
* Experience working with or supporting children or young people with a range of speech, language or communication needs, including placements during university degree.
* Experience identifying, conducting, and analyzing assessments.
* Knowledge of record keeping and safeguarding principles.
Skills and knowledge
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Knowledge of a range of formal and informal assessments.
* Knowledge of therapeutic approaches for use with a range of different speech, language and communication needs.
* Ability to work independently and organise a varied caseload, meeting competing demands.
* Ability to devise/deliver training and coaching of others.
Qualifications
* Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree.
* Registered as Speech and Language Therapist with the Health Care Professions Council.
* Member of the RCSLT.
* Valid UK driving licence, access to vehicle and ability to drive to different locations within working hours.
