Job overview

The role of Clinical Educator requires you to take the lead for the training and education of nursing staff, of all grades with the support of the senior sister/charge nurses and GI unit leadership team. Working collabratively with the GI team within the clinical area to ensure all staff are delivering high standard, evidence based practice and effective leadership. This ensure that all staff are working with the hospital policies and JAG standards.

The clinical Educator is an important role to support staff retention by focusing and promoting clinical support, job satisfaction and opportunities for staff personal and professional development. The role will involve managing & maintaining training records and ensure fairness and transparency of training resource allocation.

Essential and Desirable

Essential criteria

1. Registered Nurse
2. QCF Assessor Award, Mentorship or Teaching qualification. Appropriate clinical qualification/ experience in endoscopy nursing
3. Advanced communications skills training or willingness to undertake.
4. Psychological assessment skills training or willingness to undertake.
5. Minimum 2 years post registration.
6. Currently working in a senior position in Endoscopy for past 2 years.
7. Evidence of progressing and sustaining changes in clinical practice
8. Excellent organisational, line management, interpersonal and leadership skills.
9. An ability to perform clinical skills with dexterity
10. To have knowledge and understanding to be able to act as a resource and support the nursing team to provide high quality, evidence-based care. Has relevant knowledge to be able to assist with the co-ordination of staff training to ensure a high professional standard in all aspects of patient care
11. To have relevant knowledge and experience to act as a resource within the Endoscopy unit to provide the nursing team with professional development and education in consultation with the Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and GI Unit Leadership Team
12. Have an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the JETS Workforce and ENDO 1 training
13. To work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
14. Role modelling clinical leadership
15. Team player but able to work autonomously. Excellent communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written) with sensitive information.
16. Evidence of education to post graduate diploma level BSc in Nursing or health related subject or working towards Teaching and mentoring training preferred

Desirable criteria

17. Physical assessment and history taking, assess patients, plan care, deliver care and evaluate the effectiveness of care given.
18. Ordering diagnostic tests and interpretation of results
19. Skill in critical analysis and ability to act on audit and clinical outcomes data.
20. Completion of Good Clinical Practice Training
21. Further Education and training to master’s Level
22. Experience as band 6
