The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust are looking for dedicated and forward thinking nurses to work within our Paediatric HDU. This is an exciting time as we are expanding our HDU bed base to a dedicated 4 bedded Level 2 unit.

Our HDU unit is based within Gate 46, Children's Ward at Pinderfields Hospital and this post would be suitable for an experienced Children's Nurse with the possession of both strong clinical knowledge and leadership qualities. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong leadership, a positive attitude to service development and an ability to work as part of the multidisciplinary team. Main duties of the job
The Post holder will work within the Paediatric High Dependency Team (HDU) to provide care for infants, children and young people. The RN will practice autonomously, be responsible and accountable for providing safe, compassionate, person centred, evidence based nursing care. They will be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, planning care, implementation and evaluation without direct supervision. In collaboration with the medical team, you will be responsible for leading care within HDU.
The post holder will practice in a holistic, non-judgemental, caring and compassionate manner that avoids assumptions, supports social inclusion and recognises and respects individual choice and acknowledges diversity. You will work in partnership with other health and social care professionals, students, trainees and agencies, service users, their carers and families. The post holder will contribute to the practice development within their clinical care setting and work in accordance with Trust Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and will be responsible for completing any work based training associated with the role.
As a Band 6 you will provide senior nursing leadership throughout the 24 hour period, this post will consist of both day and night duties. You will be supported and work closely with the senior leadership team to ensure a high standard of nursing care and ensuring patient safety and patient/staff experience are maintained.

Job responsibilities
Deliver enhancedcare to children requiring high dependency care.
Undertake seniornursing responsibilities in the absence of the senior sister.
To undertake thesenior nurse coordinator role.
Undertake therole of the senior nurse bleep holder when required.
Assess thehealth related needs of the child/young person and their families, to identifyand initiate steps to deliver effective and evidence based care.
Assess, plan,implement and evaluate evidence based nursing care plans, being proactive andflexible in their approach.
Deliver directcare to the child/young person in your care in accordance with the Trustsprocess and NMC guidelines.
Workcollaboratively and co-operatively with the multi-professional team to meet theneeds of the child, young person and their families.
Work acrosspaediatrics and Neonates to support patient safety.
To achievecompetencies to support this and act as a role model to other staff.
Promote andfacilitate timely and effective discharge working collaboratively.
Be involved inthe delivery of new strategies which impact on the clinical environment andassists in promoting the nursing contribution.
Providemanagement and organisation of the clinical area.

Assist in thedevelopment of practice, protocols and guidelines, which are evidence-based.
Demonstrateclinical judgement and the ability to articulate why decisions are made.
Ensure correctusage and storage of equipment, in line with ward guidelines.
Organiseclinical workload to ensure that staff are competent and confident to care forthe needs of patients.
Assist insystematically monitoring the delivery of nursing care
Promote independencethrough relevant teaching and support of the child/young person and theirfamilies.
To have an indepth knowledge of child protection procedures and the ability to supportjunior staff in the management of vulnerable children and young people in linewith agreed local policies and procedures.
