This position is based at The Holden School, Leigh WN7 4SB, offering a salary of up to £55,000 per annum (not pro-rata), with a permanent contract, and a start date around September/October 2025. The role involves working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, during term time only.
About the Role
The Deputy Headteacher (Behaviour and Attitudes) at The Holden School plays a key leadership role in a Special School setting catering to pupils with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. The role involves shaping a positive, safe environment that supports pupils' social, emotional, and academic development. You will lead on behaviour and attitudes, working closely with the Head Teacher, SLT, clinical staff, and the wider school community to promote high expectations, implement behaviour support strategies, and uphold safeguarding practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead strategically on behaviour and attitudes, ensuring alignment with the school's vision and ethos.
* Contribute to SLT discussions and broader educational developments.
* Set high expectations for pupils, staff, and parents, fostering a culture of excellence.
* Develop a school ethos that encourages collaboration, accountability, and success.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified Teacher Status and Degree.
* Professional development for senior leadership.
* Leadership and management experience, preferably in Special Schools or SEMH settings.
* Experience in self-evaluation, development planning, and line management.
* Strong understanding of behaviour management, safeguarding, attendance, and pastoral care.
