Job Description:
AFC Wimbledon Women are looking to recruit a hardworking, self-motivated, and knowledgeable individual interested in entering the progressive world of women’s football at Tier 3, working with elite female footballers.
We are seeking Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join the Medical department. The Medical Therapist role is vital to AFC Wimbledon Women’s long-term vision.
The successful candidate will work within a Tier 3 women’s football club, providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for all women’s team players, including occasional involvement with pathway players.
Candidates must be flexible with working hours, including weekends, midweek sessions, and occasional overnight stays. This position offers great opportunities for proactive individuals eager to develop a career in football, with internal CPD opportunities and ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide emergency first aid during training sessions and matches
* Conduct clinical assessments of injured players before games
* Maintain detailed injury and treatment records, uploading them to our platform
* Communicate regularly with coaches, the strength and conditioning team, and players regarding injuries and player availability
* Participate in in-house CPD sessions
* Support the development of junior therapists within the women’s pathway
* Ensure compliance with club policies, including health and safety, equality, safeguarding, and confidentiality
Qualifications and requirements:
* BSc degree in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation
* HCPC/BASRaT/SST registration
* In-date EMFA qualification (and commitment to annual re-accreditation)
* Willingness to work with high-level athletes, including injury management and rehabilitation planning
* Medical insurance suitable for treating semi-professional women’s footballers
* Ability to participate in football at a high level
* MSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitation (preferred)
