About Our Client
I am pleased to be partnering with a leading Surrey based non-profit governing body who are looking to recruit a Financial Controller on an initial 6 month basis.
Job Description
1. Management Information & Reporting
2. Develop and maintain performance dashboards across finance and operational units for businesses
3. Integrate rolling forecasts, cash flows, liquidity analysis, and KPI trackers into monthly reports
4. Automate MI workflows for speed, accuracy, and auditability
5. Deliver strategic insights with layered commentary for executive and board stakeholders
1. Financial Planning & Control
2. Lead budgeting, forecasting, and monthly variance analysis across departments and budget holders
3. Align strategic plans with financial forecasts and working capital requirements
4. Produce robust variance analysis
5. Coordinate reforecasting cycles based on scenarios and business events
1. Centralised Procurement
2. Lead the design and oversight of procurement systems and policies across entities
3. Standardise spend thresholds, approval matrices, vendor selection, and payment terms
4. Collaborate with legal, ops, and compliance teams to embed safeguards and mitigate procurement risk
1. Treasury & Cashflow
2. Oversee cash forecasting and covenant monitoring
3. Embed treasury controls in procurement, contracting, and payment processes
1. Strategic Finance Support
2. Provide financial support to the CFO on project and investment appraisals
3. Collaborate with commercial and legal teams
4. Prepare financial analyses for decision-making
5. Oversee commercial reporting, margin analysis, and performance reviews
6. Align financial oversight with pricing logic and contracts
7. Enhance insight generation and stakeholder engagement
1. Finance Projects
2. Scope and deliver finance-led transformation projects including system upgrades, automation, and compliance changes
1. Finance Policies & Manual
2. Develop and maintain finance policies
3. Document standard operating procedures with controls and workflows
4. Maintain version control and compliance alignment
5. Audit policies for effectiveness and regulatory readiness
1. Xero System & Reporting Enhancement
2. Create custom reports in Xero and commentary tools
3. Build management reports with KPIs and variance analysis
4. Segment data using tracking categories
5. Ensure reports meet stakeholder clarity and audit standards
1. Finance Leadership
2. Manage and mentor the Commercial Management Accountant
3. Provide cover for transactional reporting
1. Internal Controls & Compliance
2. Maintain a live finance risk register
3. Link risks to procedures and controls
4. Escalate governance or compliance issues
1. Board Reporting & Governance
2. Produce MI packs including Executive Summary, Financial Dashboard, KPI Tracker with Commentary, and Finance Risk Register
The Successful Applicant
* Proven success in Financial Controller or senior finance roles
* Expertise in dashboard reporting, MI reporting, and stakeholder communication
* High proficiency in Excel, systems, and processes
* Strong understanding of accounting standards, audit compliance, and finance policies
* Able to implement changes quickly and effectively
* Confident communicator and effective business partner
* Proactive, ambitious, and committed to continuous improvement
* Capable of leading and mentoring in cross-functional teams
