We have an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Diagnostic Radiographer to join our multi-disciplinary veterinary referral hospital based in Cramlington, Northumberland. Our referral clinicians see a wide range of cases in orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, 'soft tissue' surgery, internal medicine, oncology, and cardiology. They are supported by a dedicated team of emergency and critical care clinicians, an ultrasonographer, and our Registered Veterinary Nurses and Animal Care Assistants.
Our advanced imaging technology comprises a 160-slice Toshiba/Canon Aquilion Lightning CT scanner, and a 1.5T Canon Vantage Elan MRI scanner. Additionally, we have DR x-ray and fluoroscopy.
Qualities we seek
We are open to candidates from both a Veterinary and Human background who will have MRI / CT experience.
We would require applicants to have a HCPC Registration alongside their DCR/BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography.
Hours aimed to achieve a work-life balance
We offer flexible working patterns, with the option of either 5 x 8-hour days or 4 x 10-hour days with a fixed day off—open to discussion to suit your needs.
Responsibilities
As a Radiographer, you’ll be responsible for capturing high-quality images in line with company protocols. You’ll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of both CT and MRI, helping to ensure the departments run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
You will provide guidance and support to colleagues, contribute to a culture of safety, and uphold high clinical standards. The role also includes performing routine quality assurance checks and working closely with Canon, our equipment supplier, to ensure regular servicing is maintained.
In addition, you’ll be responsible for identifying and escalating any incidental findings observed during routine scans, ensuring these are promptly reported to the Clinical Director.
How you'll make a difference
* Be up to date with the current safety guidelines and work with the local RPA where necessary as an appointed RPS.
* Work alongside our appointed MR safety officer ensuring local rules are followed.
* Ensure staff safety within the department.
* Communicate effectively and in an appropriate manner with other members of the team, maintaining a high professional standard.
* Maintaining comprehensive up to date records for CT, MRI, and X-ray.
* Manage the primary data archive and associated records, with full responsibility for preserving data from acquisition through to storage.
* Help train new personnel and assist integrating new team members to the company.
