THE ROLE:
The Pre-Construction and Special Projects Department of Freyssinet oversee pre-construction activities for non-standard repair and new build projects. This includes heavy handling and sliding, complex temporary works, prestressing, deck construction and de-construction, and UHPFRC projects. The Pre-Construction and Special Projects Department also manages our early contractor involvement (ECI) activities with the support of our design and operation departments.
The primary role of the Pre-Construction Technical Manager is to undertake the day-to-day management of Special Projects (in the Pre-Construction phases) and ECI projects. This includes providing technical leadership, scope development/management, developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, overseeing design and methodology solutions, and commercial co-ordination.
Ideally the Pre-Construction Technical Manager role will also contribute to the business in several secondary activities. The individual will have a technical background. Consequently, the individual will engage regularly with the Operations and Technical Solutions departments to develop technical solutions. On occasion it may be required to undertake the direct design of engineering solutions. This secondary role will provide the individual with valuable exposure to the wider business and consequently create opportunities to develop internal and external relationships.
The Pre-Construction Technical Manager will also provide follow-on support to the Operations Team implementing Special Projects, and support the department Director in generating new business leads, bidding for new works and overseeing technical development activities.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Undertake the day-to-day management of Special Projects (in the Pre-Construction phases) and ECI projects
* Understand and be able to capture Client requirements. Lead the of design delivery solutions.
* Provide technical leadership in Special Projects and ECIs, driving technical excellence and innovation.
* Support the Pre-Construction Director with the tender process for Special Projects including coordination with Sales, Estimating, Operations, and Technical Solutions.
* Work in close collaboration with Sales, Estimating, Operations and Technical Solutions by providing technical expertise throughout the whole project life cycle, such as;
· Develop technical concept and cost-effective ideas for budget and prices.
· Support the preparation of design brief, method statements, AIP’s and other technical reports
· Provide expert advice and propose best solutions, techniques and construction methods for contracted works.
· Assist site to address unexpected issues involving construction methods or product application
· Provide technical assistance when sensitive activities or innovative technique are implemented
* Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Promote our technical solutions, products, and range of services to solve our clients engineering and construction challenges. Contribute to development of technical presentations and promote Freyssinet techniques to consultants and clients
* Promote and support the deployment of specialist techniques across the organisation. Keep up-to-date with advancements in the Freyssinet techniques
* Manage and mentor engineers involved in Special Projects and ECI projects
KEY SKILLS:
· BSc/Master degree in civil/structural engineering
· Chartered with a profession such as IStructE/ICE
· Highly technical, specialist civil engineering background
· Ability to generate opportunities through networking and communication
· Experience of highly technical temporary design solutions
· Working knowledge of:
Structural Repairs Civils Post Tensioning Incremental Launching
Structural Strengthening Jacking & Propping UHPFRC
Complex Temporary Works Deck construction
