Mental Health Employment Specialist

Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Mental Health Employment Specialist to work within the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Team. The role supports adults in the community to secure, retain and build paid employment as part of their recovery journey.
Main Duties
• Provide IPS services to a caseload of service users in defined localities within Lincolnshire, with possibility of covering other geographical areas as required.
• Assist other Mental Health Employment Specialists with complex case management.
• Work closely with the Service Lead to develop and expand the IPS service.
• Collaborate with a wide range of employers, statutory, voluntary and business partners, both internal and external to the Trust.
• Enable service users to overcome employment barriers, fostering autonomy and supporting recovery through vocational goals.
• Engage with teams across the Trust's Adult Community Division to promote effective community-based employment strategies.
Qualifications
* Degree level education or equivalent experience in supported employment.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant training to diploma level, or relevant experience.
* Qualifications in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or Employment.
* IPS training completed.
* Motivational interviewing training.
Experience
* Experience liaising with individuals and organisations to promote employment, education and training for service users.
* Experience working with mental health service users across health, social care or voluntary settings, implementing individual programmes.
* Active engagement with employers and employment providers to secure opportunities.
* Knowledge of employment legislation, disability equality and benefits agencies.
* Experience designing and reviewing person‑centred programmes.
* Understanding of vocational assessment and profiling.
* Recent experience of helping service users achieve employment goals.
* Experience with caseload and outcome data collection.
* Experience managing and supervising support staff.
Skills
* Enthusiasm and commitment to supporting mental health service users in employment.
* Familiarity with therapeutic models to engage and retain service users.
* Positive attitude to overcoming barriers and supporting recovery.
* Marketing, promotion and negotiation skills with a persuasive style.
* Analytical ability to identify and support individual employment needs.
* Excellent organisational, time‑management and interpersonal skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
* Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Knowledge of local employment issues, government policy and Trust priorities.
* Ability to deliver training and presentations to colleagues and external agencies.
* Understanding of welfare benefits and benefits rules.
Special Requirements
* Willingness to travel independently to other bases and service‑user homes.
* Flexibility to support extended hours, if required.
* Ability to cover for team members working in other areas.
