About The Role
Location: Fareham, Hampshire
Days & Hours: These hours can be covered by more than 1 person. Permanent Hours: Fixed Term contract - 8th Nov 2025 to 9th Feb 2026:
* Week 1: Thursday 1pm-10pm, Tuesday 1pm-7pm, Saturday 8am-5pm, Wednesday 5pm-10pm, and Sleeping night shift (10pm – 8am)
* Week 2: Tuesday 1pm-10pm, Monday 8am-6pm, Friday 10pm-8am (Sleeping Night), Tuesday 8am-7pm, Saturday 5pm-10pm, Thursday 8am-6pm, Friday 8am-5pm
Bank hours are available for covering leave and sickness. Hours vary weekly, from 3 to 10+ hours, including days and sleep nights. Applicants can apply if they prefer just days, just nights, or a combination.
Pay:
* £13.65/hr – Monday to Friday, Days, 8am-8pm
* £15.00/hr – Monday to Friday, Waking Nights, 8pm-8am
* £15.00/hr – Weekends, Days, 8am-8pm
* £16.00/hr – Weekends, Waking Nights, 8pm-8am
* National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage per hour (dependent on age), Monday to Sunday, Sleeping Nights, 10pm-7am
Driver required? Yes, to drive Verity's wheelchair adapted vehicle (automatic).
Accommodation: Own room with toilet and tea-making facilities for sleeping nights.
Pets: Family has a small dog, kept away from care areas.
Interviews: Initial phone interview followed by face-to-face if successful.
Start Date: ASAP, subject to checks.
Verity, in her mid-40s, has an acquired brain injury and lives independently with a 24-hour care team. She requires support with personal care, transfers, PEG feeding, catheter care, and respiratory care. Training will be provided, and a supportive team environment is guaranteed.
She enjoys social activities, outings, and loves planning celebrations. She is registered blind and communicates non-verbally through body language and facial expressions, which her team learns to interpret. She has a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for outings.
Overnight care involves one waking and one sleeping night support worker. The sleeping support worker has a separate suite and is only woken if needed. Physical handling skills are required, with training provided.
This role suits organized, dedicated, calm, proactive, enthusiastic, and patient individuals with good communication skills. Support involves physical tasks, and a commitment to high-quality care is essential.
