This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.
The role
As a Fire Risk Assessor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance. You play a crucial role in ensuring fire safety across one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure programmes. Your work helps protect people, safeguard operations and strengthen the resilience of a nationally significant energy project.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to
1. Conduct detailed fire safety inspections across MEHA areas of responsibility.
2. Complete and update fire risk assessments using digital inspection tools such as Fieldview.
3. Work closely with construction and delivery teams to support safe systems of work.
4. Coordinate with other contractors’ fire risk assessors to ensure aligned and consistent approaches.
5. Identify fire safety shortfalls and take proactive steps to address them.
This is a full‑time position working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset.
Essential experience of the Fire Risk Assessor:
6. Experience delivering fire risk assessments within complex buildings or high‑risk environments.
7. Practical experience in fire safety, ideally within construction or major infrastructure.
8. Ability to influence safety behaviours and promote a positive safety culture.
9. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
10. Familiarity with digital risk assessment or inspection systems.
Qualifications for the Fire Risk Assessor:
11. Level 3 or Level 4 Fire Risk Assessor certification (Level 4 required by Q2 ).
Security Clearance
