Building Surveyor – Damp, Mould & Disrepair
Location: Hampshire
Contract: Ongoing temporary contract
Rate: £23 per hour PAYE / £30 per hour Umbrella / Deemed LTD (Inside IR35)
We are currently working with a local council in Hampshire who are seeking a skilled and motivated Building Surveyor to take ownership of a key work stream within our Housing Operations team, specifically focusing on Damp, Mould and Disrepair.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in maintaining and improving the quality of our council-owned, managed, and leased housing stock. You will provide a high-quality, customer-focused surveying service, ensuring the delivery of effective repairs, voids, planned maintenance, and project works in line with the Council’s strategic priorities, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the Damp, Mould & Disrepair work stream, taking full responsibility for all associated surveying activity.
2. Deliver a professional service for the repair, maintenance, improvement, and re-servicing of housing stock.
3. Support the effective delivery of responsive repairs, void property works, planned maintenance, and refurbishment projects.
4. Carry out detailed inspections, diagnose defects, and specify appropriate remedial works.
5. Supervise contractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification, and on budget.
6. Foster strong relationships with internal teams, residents, leaseholders, and external partners.
7. Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks, including CDM, H&S, and housing standards.
What We’re Looking For:
1. A qualified construction professional (ONC/HNC or higher in Building Studies/Construction).
2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in building maintenance, with knowledge of damp, mould, and disrepair issues.
3. Strong understanding of relevant legislation including health & safety, housing standards, and compliance.
4. Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
5. A collaborative and customer-first approach with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
