Kitchen Assistant role at Care Concern Group. Contract: Full Time. Salary: £12.21 per hour. Shift Type: Days. Contracted hours: 36 hours per week. Location: Portcanna, Cardiff. This luxury care home provides Nursing and Residential care for 69 residents in a refined environment. We’re looking for a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support the culinary team with high-quality meals and a clean, safe kitchen. The candidate will be required to work alternate weekends and Bank Holidays.

As Kitchen Assistant, you’ll help prepare delicious meals and maintain a clean kitchen, ensuring smooth food preparation and a high-quality dining experience for residents.
What You’ll Do
 * Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of food, helping to get meals ready efficiently and to a high standard.
 * Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain general cleanliness and tidiness in the kitchen area, including equipment and appliances, ensuring a hygienic environment.
 * Delivery Handling: Receive, check, and safely store kitchen deliveries, ensuring items are properly accounted for and stored.
 * Food Safety: Understand and implement safe food handling principles to ensure the highest standards of food safety were met.
 * Cleaning Procedures: Follow cleaning procedures for different surfaces and equipment, ensuring everything is sanitized and well-maintained.
 * Presentation: Ensure areas are well-presented and maintained in good condition, contributing to a professional kitchen environment.
 * Safe Work Practices: Practice safe systems of work across a range of tasks to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
 * Health & Safety: Understand and adhere to Health and Safety at Work legislation, ensuring compliance and safety.
 * Professionalism: Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
 * Team Collaboration: Encourage teamwork and support colleagues to work effectively.
 * Storage: Take responsibility for the safe and tidy storage of supplies and equipment.
 * Policy Adherence: Read, understand, and adhere to company policies and procedures.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
 * Organizational skills to manage tasks efficiently and maintain a clean kitchen
 * Basic understanding of food safety and handling principles
 * Keen attention to detail for cleanliness, proper food storage, and deliveries
 * Good communication skills to work effectively with kitchen staff and management
 * Ability to work as part of a team
Desired Experience
 * Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is advantageous but not essential
 * Familiarity with food handling and safety procedures is beneficial
