A little more about your role
Working on a variety of interesting projects encompassing Energy, Renewable Energy, Healthcare, Heritage, Commercial, Industrial, and Hospitality sectors.
* Responsible for the efficient and compliant delivery of all structural engineering design on the project, leading the technical design delivery.
* Responsible for coordination and interface to ensure the project meets the client's technical requirements, leading client liaisons, and design responsibility for all structural works.
* Supporting the team in administering the structural design, managing project finances, team costs, and performance.
* Managing and mentoring WSP technical structural engineering staff, under the guidance of the Lead Project Engineer and Project Manager.
* Reviewing structural engineering work in accordance with WSP protocols, delegating tasks to Senior Structural Engineers as needed.
* Working towards 'Chartered Engineer' status, with formal training and review by a relevant professional Institution or a WSP mentor.
* If via the 'Apprentice route', having achieved 'Incorporated Engineer' status or 'EngTech' qualification.
* Effective communication skills, including written, oral, and visual media.
* Ability to write reports, summaries, and deliver presentations.
* Knowledge of REVIT Structure for coordination with structural software packages.
* Developing skills to conceive approximate scheme solutions and assess alternative materials and construction forms.
* Solving structural engineering problems using traditional and computer-aided analysis methods.
* Preparing specifications and design reports.
* Awareness of environmental and sustainability legislation affecting design.
* Gaining experience in construction techniques, site visits, and project sequencing.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
Experience in organizing design reviews, hazard and risk assessments, managing project resources, and delivering project elements within budget and time constraints. Ability to share knowledge, understand contract scope, and mentor junior staff.
