Specialist Acoustics Technician - SalfordOpportunity OverviewWe are looking for a new Specialist Acoustic Technician to provide full time support to commercial and research contracts in the Centre for Acoustics of the Built Environment. This post will focus on measurement, analysis and certification in Building Acoustics with a focus on UKAS accredited Sound Transmission, Sound Absorption and Impact testing. The post will also support more general laboratory development work. The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate knowledge of and/or utilising methods in acoustic measurement, working closely to standard procedures, communicating with customers, traceability of measurement and acoustic instrumentation. Measurement analysis and development work will utilise Python, Matlab or other appropriate methods. Key ResponsibilitiesCarrying out measurements to standard methods and established measurement processesLiaising with clients and the Centre Lead on installation of items for testingSetting up measurement equipment Preparing accurate and timely reports to standard templates;Identifying and resolving equipment issues and utilising support when required;Following procedures on for example environmental conditions and external calibration to ensure quality and traceability of results;Performing reliable recording and numerical analysis of measurement results according to standard and occasionally non-standard procedures; About the School or About the Department Salford has been a centre of excellence in Acoustics for over 60 years.
