Position: Economics Teacher Location: Redbridge Start date: September 2026 Salary: Outer London MPS/UPS About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Economics to join a high-performing and ambitious secondary academy. The successful candidate will join a well-established Humanities / Business faculty and will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching in Economics across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. The ability to also contribute to Business Studies delivery may be advantageous depending on timetabling needs. The post offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious teacher to work within a supportive environment that values academic rigour, high expectations, and excellent outcomes for students. Key Responsibilities Teach Economics across KS4 and KS5, ensuring high standards of attainment and progress Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons Develop students’ understanding of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and real-world application Support students in developing exam technique and analytical writing skills Contribute to curriculum planning, resources, and departmental development Monitor, assess, and report on student progress in line with school policies Use data effectively to inform teaching and targeted intervention Support students through enrichment activities, revision sessions, and exam preparation Contribute to the wider life of the school as required Person Specification Essential: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Strong subject knowledge in Economics (and/or Business-related disciplines) Ability to teach effectively at KS4 and KS5 Commitment to high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement Strong classroom management and behaviour for learning strategies Ability to plan engaging and inclusive lessons Excellent communication and organisational skills Desirable: Experience teaching A-Level Economics Ability to contribute to Business Studies teaching Familiarity with current examination specifications (e.g. AQA, Edexcel) Experience supporting students from diverse backgrounds Involvement in extracurricular or academic enrichment activities Evidence of strong examination results and student progress outcomes What the school offer A supportive and collaborative faculty team High-quality teaching resources and curriculum support Strong culture of professional development and career progression Positive behaviour systems allowing teachers to focus on teaching Commitment to staff wellbeing and manageable workload practices Opportunities to contribute to enrichment and academic excellence Smart Teachers do not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, race, colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
