Job Description
Key Responsibilities
* Handle and settle standard Syndicate claims, including those from specific insureds and coverholders.
* Deal with more complex claims that need to be referred to senior claims leaders.
* Make sure all claims are handled in line with the company’s claims policies and service standards.
* Build strong working relationships with brokers, lawyers, service providers, experts, DCAs, and coverholders.
* Attend regular meetings with brokers to maintain good relationships.
* Work with actuarial and underwriting teams to prepare claims information for renewals and reserving meetings.
* Keep underwriters and senior claims leaders updated on major claims, wording issues, or trends.
* Manage claims effectively using diaries, watchlists, and regular review of outstanding claims.
* Manage the Marine and Energy claims portfolio, reviewing reported claims and helping assess IBNR and ultimate losses.
* Monitor and record bordereaux each month for delegated accounts.
* Escalate any claims queries that need senior input.
* Make sure reserving follows internal guidelines and best practice.
* Follow all company processes, procedures, regulatory rules, and service standards.
* Represent the company in the market (e.g., meetings, conferences, committees) and support underwriters in client and market engagement.
* Run “lessons learned” sessions for claims and underwriting teams.
* Attend renewal meetings, pitches, and client visits when required.
* Work with the reinsurance team to report claims and help with recovery from reinsurers.
* Meet departmental KPIs and help improve overall team performance.
* Arrange and join regular underwriting and reserving meetings.
* Mentor and support junior team members.
* Support the run‑off of certain portfolios, including reconciliations and reserve updates.
* Help with system improvements and process changes across the claims team.
* Carry out any other tasks or projects assigned by senior leaders.

Qualifications
* A‑Level education or higher.
* ACII qualified or working towards ACII.
Experience
* Ideally 10+ years adjusting Marine claims.
* Strong experience handling large, complex, and litigated Marine claims with minimal supervision.
* Marine Liability experience is essential; Energy claims experience is a bonus.
* Experience working with DCAs.
* Good understanding of legal and regulatory requirements in claims.
* Strong knowledge of the full claims lifecycle and best practice processes.
* Experience in a Managing Agency or knowledge of Lloyd’s Minimum Standards is preferred.
* Experience acting as the lead market on complex losses.
