Mortuary Attendant Location: Andover Hours: 40 hours per week. (Monday - Friday 12.30pm - 21.00pm) Salary: £29,095.09 per annum. The role: The main purpose of the role is to facilitate our frontline mortuary care, receiving the deceased into care from our Private Ambulance Crew or 3rd party Funeral Directors. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Helping to en-coffin the deceased, allocating mortuary bays and to register location in the deceased's unique CRM record. Conducting all necessary ID checks Processing all associated paperwork Assisting our crematorium team in the preparation of the deceased for the cremation process, conducting identification checks and following any special instructions given by the applicant relating to personal effects and jewellery To assist in the preparation of repatriated deceased for cremation and to dispose of associated zinc lining in accordance with company policy Cataloguing and recording all personal effects and jewellery and updating the mortuary register Ensuring the safe and secure transfer of the deceased from our receiving mortuary to our resting care centre prior to cremation Ensuring the safe and secure transit of all valuables from our receiving mortuary to our resting care centre prior to cremation Preparing and placing nameplates where appropriate for the deceased where families have selected an attended service You will liaise and work closely with the Mortuary Manager to report the requirement for maintenance or repair of specialist equipment utilised in the mortuary You will be responsible for the cleanliness of mortuary areas and ensure that appropriate clinical waste protocols are followed You will be responsible for completing daily records to confirm cleaning rotas have been followed and completed You will monitor and record stock levels and be responsible for reporting depleted stock to the Mortuary Manager You will ensure that all personnel working in and around the mortuaries act appropriately and enforce company expectations relating to behaviours at all times Key skills requirement: There is a requirement to transport clients within our care between mortuaries, so a full manual driving license is essential You will need to be physically fit as the role is physically demanding one and involves significant manual handling. This role demands a high degree of emotional maturity and the resilience to navigate challenging situations with composure. You will also be smart in appearance, respectful and empathetic towards the deceased and the families that we serve. The ideal applicant will ideally have experience of working in the funeral sector although this is not essential. This post will be Mon-Fri, with core hours 12:30pm to 9:00pm, however this role may require flexibility to cover weekends and bank holidays covering annual leave and unexpected circumstances, as part of a highly specialised team.
