Job Opportunity: Support Worker in a Secondary School

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a thriving secondary school that values creativity, teamwork, and student-centred support. You’ll be part of a friendly, committed staff team supporting learners across a range of subjects—helping them stay focused, feel understood, and reach their potential.

What You’ll Be Doing:

* Supporting individual students or small groups within the classroom
* Encouraging positive behaviour and classroom engagement
* Helping deliver learning activities that make a real difference
* Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and the wider pastoral team
* Bringing patience, humour, and a good sense of direction (literally and figuratively)

What We’re Looking For:

* Experience supporting young people in school, youth work, or similar roles
* A confident communicator who builds rapport with ease
* Someone who can be both firm and fair—especially important in secondary settings
* A strong male role model, especially for students needing that consistent presence
* Thrive training? Amazing. Not yet? We’ll sort you out with free access to our online Thrive course—it’s a big plus for schools and helps you stand out from the crowd.

If you're ready to start something meaningful this September, please apply. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. For further details, see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website.

All pay rates quoted will include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This is a temporary position, with the possibility of becoming permanent later.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’. This may include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.

We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. Candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance is provided. For more information, please visit the Protocol Education website.
