Role Overview
Our customer is a specialist manufacturing and distribution group that is going on a significant growth journey. They have an opportunity for a Head of Transport to join a key site north of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
As the business continues to develop, there is now a requirement to strengthen operational capability, with a particular focus on logistics and transport efficiency, to improve performance, reduce cost and bring greater structure to day-to-day operations.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Transport will take responsibility for the performance and improvement of logistics and transport operations, while supporting overall site coordination.
Key responsibilities include:
* Management and optimisation of fleet and transport operations
* Driving improvements in route planning, utilisation and cost efficiency
* Oversight of transport compliance, maintenance and operational standards
* Implementation and development of systems and data visibility
* Leadership and development of logistics and office based teams
* Managing relationships with third party transport providers and suppliers
The Person
We are seeking a practical and experienced operational leader with a strong background in transport and logistics. You will ideally:
* Have experience managing fleet, transport or logistics operations within an industrial environment
* Demonstrate a strong understanding of route optimisation, cost control and operational efficiency
* Have knowledge of transport compliance, maintenance and regulatory requirements
* Be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high volume environment
* A strong educational background, ideally a degree and bring a hands-on, solutions focused approach
* Be a collaborative operator, able to work effectively alongside established teams
