Overview
Maintenance Supervisor to lead our friendly team based at Tarmac Whitwell Quarry near Worksop, Nottinghamshire. This role is easily commutable from Sheffield, Chesterfield, Rotherham, Worksop, Bolsover, Dronfield, North Anston, Retford, Doncaster and Mansfield. Are you an experienced and dynamic Quarry Manager or Supervisor with a good understanding of plant maintenance and Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)?
Main Responsibilities
* Reporting to the Operations Manager, manage the Quarry and take ownership of performance and quality; maximise the efficiency of the production process.
* Act as Section Manager – Mechanical with a hands-on approach to maintenance activity including PPM, defect and risk management, breakdowns, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and project engineering work for both fixed and mobile plant.
* Lead and develop a highly skilled team to ensure business continuity and reduce risk.
* Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives; maintain stock management processes and produce operational reports.
* Manage budgetary control for site operations.
* Maintain and implement Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments, and provide training.
* Oversee the safe operation of the site and the planned maintenance of all equipment (fixed and mobile).
* Report and investigate unsafe or hazardous practices; deliver safety briefings and toolbox talks.
* Proactively manage mandatory and developmental training, maintaining an up-to-date training matrix.
* Collate and report monthly performance KPI and drive operational performance through KPIs.
This role works Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday mornings to meet operational and customer needs.
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful as Maintenance Supervisor you will ideally have experience with methods of winning and extracting raw material, and knowledge of loading, transporting minerals, and processes such as feeding, crushing, screening, separation, classification and beneficiation. Proven experience leading a team maintaining heavy plant equipment in a similar industry is required.
Suitable candidates will:
* Demonstrate competence in extracting raw material safely while optimising costs.
* Understand the Quarry Regulations 1999 and Reg 8.1c accredited status.
* Know techniques to load and transport extracted minerals; understand mobile and static plant operation to produce a compliant product to customer and BS EN specifications with minimal waste.
* Have mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems knowledge.
* Be able to challenge others appropriately and hold them accountable for job completion and quality.
* Have knowledge of continuous improvement techniques, Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, and RCA methodologies.
* Be experienced in conducting plant and vehicle maintenance checks and inspections, applying basic maintenance practices, and reporting defects.
* Understand maintenance processes to maximise availability and cost base for mobile and static plant, and undertake basic maintenance tasks.
* Communicate confidently, plan, structure, and present meetings and briefings; develop effective relationships with stakeholders.
* Be organized and able to manage competing priorities.
