Stock Operative – Temp-to-Perm Career Opportunity with a Leading Metal Stockholding Company
Location: Markham Vale
Pay: £13.27 per hour + overtime (enhanced rates)
Hours: Rotational shifts – 6:00am–2:30pm / 9:30am–6:00pm
Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment is proud to partner with a well-established and reputable specialist metal stockholding company to recruit reliable and skilled Stock Operatives. This is a temp-to-permanent role, with a permanent position available after 12 weeks. It offers excellent benefits, progression opportunities, and a long-term working environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Safely and efficiently operate forklifts (Reach and/or Counterbalance B1) to move heavy metal stock
* Manage goods in and goods out, ensuring accurate stock control and warehouse organisation
* Carry, handle, and pack metal billets, bars, and components to specification
* Stamp billets and metal products with precision, maintaining accurate records
* Support stock rotation and organisation to meet production and dispatch requirements
* Follow health and safety procedures at all times, maintaining a tidy and safe working environment
* Assist with general warehouse and operational duties as required
What We’re Looking For
* Solid hands-on forklift experience, particularly moving heavy metal stock rather than just pallets
* Proven track record in warehouse or stock management, with commitment to long-term employment
* Comfortable with physically demanding work, including heavy lifting and manual handling
* Accurate, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious
* Motivated to build a stable career within a growing and reputable company
