Field Service Engineer - Midlands & East England
Region: Midlands & East England (bases around Cambridge, Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, Stoke)
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 (DOE) + bonus, vehicle & travel expenses + benefits
Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

We represent a longstanding, family run business that designs and installs fixed continuous Gas Detection and environmental monitoring systems. They operate across diverse sectors including sewage treatment, clean rooms, defence, facility management and more, and are known for Engineering excellence and reliability.
The Role
You will be a Field Service Engineer, responsible for servicing, calibrating, and preparing fixed Gas detection / environmental monitoring systems for clients across the Midlands & East England. Many of your assignments will be independent field-based work.
Key responsibilities:
Perform routine servicing & calibration on fixed gas detection equipment
Review job scopes, quotations, ensure correct parts & test gases are prepared ahead of site visits
Manage email communications (Outlook), fill in job sheets, timesheets, mileage, expenses, record keeping
Review mobile stock & test gas levels monthly
Travel to client sites (Cambridge area and further afield to Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, Stoke etc.)
Candidate Profile
Must-haves:
Experience in field service / electronic / electrical engineering, ideally with gas detection or environmental monitoring systems
Strong time management, ability to work independently and manage your schedule
Computer literacy (email, spreadsheets, digital job/reporting systems)
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to obtain or hold relevant Health & Safety / site-specific certification (e.g. CSCS card, Working at Height, IPAF)Desirable:
Prior experience with fixed gas detection calibration and servicing
Additional safety or environmental certifications (e.g. Asbestos Awareness, Working at Height)
Working Conditions & Benefits
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
Annual bonus potential (typically paid in December based on company performance)
Holiday entitlement: 20 days + bank holidays, rising to 25 days after 5 years' service
