Wigan Children’s Services and GMMH have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 8a Clinical Psychologist WTE to support our evidence based, trauma informed service across Wigan.
You will be part of Wigans ATOM service, we support children who areon a trajectory of becoming cared for, returning home to family/family based care, Living in foster placements with therapeutic support
You will be based across a Residential - Outreach Service and a Multi-agency Adolescent Safeguarding Team.
You will join a growing team of community and specialist CAMHS Clinical Psychologists, including Consultant Clinical Psychologists, newly qualified/ experienced Clinical Psychologists/Assistant Psychologists.
The CAMHS services have a proven track record of great relationship with local training courses and successful placements for trainees. There are multiple opportunities for ongoing professional and personal development.
Are you an experienced practitioner that is passionate about improving services for Children experiencing adversity who can support a team or individuals to work within a formulation, offer regular consultation and deliver training.
There is an opportunity to work directly with CYP and their families, including parents and carers. We work within a trauma informed and trusted relationships approach, some models include DDP, Attachment focused interventions and The Your Choice Model.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based ATOM and REACH services and will be expected to provide a highly specialist Psychology service to children and young people, their families. The post holder will provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and therapeutic intervention for children and young people at risk of placement breakdown and those in residential care returning to families or foster care.
The psychologist will collaboratively develop an attachment informed and trauma aware psychological formulation with the CYP and everyone involved in their care, will link with other professionals and agencies in the wider system to ensure integrated trauma informed care provision across health, social care, education services to optimise the outcomes for young people and their families.
The post holder will be expected to work closely and constructively with the Senior Management Team within the CAMHS group. The post holder will be supported by contributing and accessing the skills and experience of a wider diverse Multi-Disciplinary Team across services.
The post holder will be expected to support Trainee Psychologist placements.
The post holder would also be expected to undertake service development projects as agreed with the other clinical and management leads.
The post is open to applied psychologists registered with the HCPC as a Clinical Psychologist.

The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
