SAP Specialist / SAP Lead Architect

Royal Mail is embarking on one of the most significant technology transformations in its history — and we're looking for exceptional SAP specialists to help shape the future.

For more than 20 years, our core ERP and SAP systems have supported Finance, HR, and Commercial operations across the organisation. Today, these legacy platforms are fragmented, heavily customised, and approaching end‑of‑life. To secure our future and unlock new capability, we are delivering a multi‑year, enterprise-wide transformation built on SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP BRIM.

This is your opportunity to play a defining role in a once‑in‑a‑generation programme.

The Programme

Our Future ERP Programme will modernise and simplify Royal Mail's technology landscape through a phased rollout of:

* SAP S/4HANA – Core Finance, Group Reporting, Advanced Financial Closing, SAP Analytics Cloud
* SAP SuccessFactors – Employee Central, Payroll, Onboarding, Compensation, Analytics
* SAP BRIM – Billing and Revenue Innovation Management, integrated with SAP Datasphere, CPQ, Price Management and Customer Portal

The programme will deliver Accelerated Finance first, followed by Enhanced Finance, HR Core, and Commercial Transformation — creating a unified, data‑driven, agile enterprise.

The Role

As an SAP Specialist / SAP Lead Architect, you will be the subject matter expert for one or more of our core functional areas (Finance, HR, Payroll, or Commercial). You will shape, design, and assure the solutions that underpin Royal Mail's future operations.

This is a strategic, high‑impact role where your expertise will guide both business and technology teams. You will:

* Own and drive the SAP solution roadmap for your functional area
* Provide architectural leadership across SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP SaaS applications, and integrations
* Evaluate new SAP capabilities and advise on how they can unlock value for Royal Mail
* Champion simplification, standardisation, and process optimisation
* Work closely with senior stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into scalable, secure, compliant solutions
* Lead solution design in a complex, multi‑supplier environment
* Ensure solutions align with Royal Mail's architecture principles, security standards, and financial governance

This is a role for someone who thrives on complexity, brings a pragmatic and delivery‑focused mindset, and wants to influence the future of a national institution.

We're looking for someone who brings:

Technical Expertise

* Deep knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, and SAP SaaS applications
* Experience delivering end‑to‑end SAP solutions in large, complex organisations
* Strong understanding of integration patterns (APIs, events, IDoc/OData) and SAP Basis
* Experience in cloud transformation or ECC S/4HANA migration programmes
* For Finance roles: expertise across FI, CO, FSCM, FM, TRM and integration with SD, MM, HCM, SuccessFactors
* For Commercial roles: knowledge of BRIM, SAP configuration, BAdIs, BRF, VOFM, VC/AVC, Material Master & Variant Config

Leadership & Delivery

* Ability to lead solution design and influence cross‑functional teams
* Strong communication skills, able to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences
* Experience working in outsourced, multi‑supplier environments
* A proactive, "can‑do" approach and resilience in fast‑paced, high‑pressure delivery environments

Why Join Royal Mail?

This is more than a technology upgrade — it's a transformation of how Royal Mail operates. You'll be joining at a pivotal moment, with the chance to:

* Shape the architecture of a national organisation
* Work with the latest SAP technologies
* Influence strategic decisions and drive meaningful change
* Be part of a multi‑year programme with long‑term career opportunities

If you want to work on a programme of real scale and significance — and you're excited by the challenge of modernising a complex enterprise — we would love to hear from you.
