Overview
A kind and patient Personal Assistant is needed to support an intelligent, gentle, and private fourteen-year-old autistic boy living in the Newquay area. This role offers an average of 7 hours per week with flexible scheduling, including some weekend and school-holiday availability.
About Him
He has a strong interest in maths, drumming and music, and enjoys a range of outdoor activities. He thrives on new experiences, particularly outdoors, and likes walking, visiting new places, going to the cinema, arcades, and meeting new people. He is keen to build social connections with other teenagers. He can sometimes find it difficult to stay engaged and has specific sensory needs, including sensitivity to smells and routines around handwashing, cleanliness, and repetitive actions such as opening and closing doors. He can also be particular with food.
Responsibilities
Support him to develop social confidence, build life skills, and engage positively in activities that reflect his interests.
Requirements
* Experience working with young people with autism is essential.
* A driving licence and access to transport are essential.
* Mileage allowance will be provided.
* Enhanced DBS check required.
