Manthorpe Engineering have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Fabrications Project Engineer to join their team. You will be working on technically complex products and assemblies, primarily for the UK Defence Industry.
The Project Engineer will be the primary technical lead of designated projects. They will be the point of contact with the customer and will ensure their designated projects are delivered on time, right first time and within cost targets. This will be achieved through strong technical leadership, liaising with all other business functions to ensure manufacturing best practice is embedded throughout the project.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
1. Contract Review
2. Participate and contribute to relevant pre-contract reviews with the customer
3. Participate and contribute to related internal contract reviews
4. Ensure all customer requirements are captured and understood
5. Engineering & Planning
6. Establish methods of manufacture for required items and transfer these through to effective manufacturing routings.
7. Definition of all material, subcontract and other non-manufacturing requirements
8. Creation of manufacturing route cards and issue for manufacture
9. Creation of stage drawings, procedures and other manufacturing aids as required
10. Provide technical support throughout the designated projects to all business areas as required
11. Monitor performance of right first time, costs and delivery at all times
12. Be the single point of contact with the customer for all technical and quality issues
13. Deliver project commitments on time
14. Ensure effective communication across all business functions to meet project delivery requirements
15. Participate in delivery reviews with the customer
16. Engage in visits to both customer and supplier sites where required.
17. Continuous Improvement
18. Ensure all lessons learnt are captured and embedded to continuously improve business performance
19. Work with the wider team to develop business processes, remove waste and non-value add activities
20. Ensure full compliance with the Company's Quality Management System
21. Pro-actively assist the Document Quality Team with creation of Documentation Packs for designated projects

Person Specification / Requirements
* Qualified to HNC level minimum (or equivalent)
* Demonstrable fabrication and welding experience
* Project Engineering experience within a fabrications business in a regulated industry
* Able to understand and interpret complex engineering drawings
* Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
* Demonstrable experience of defining methods of manufacture for complex products and assemblies.
* CAD experience in a relevant software package would be an advantage
* Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word.
* Capable of working un-supervised and using own initiative.
* Good eye for detail with a methodical approach to the task in hand.
* Due to the security level of the projects we work on, BPSS clearance will be required and will form part of the onboarding process.
