Overview
Our client is recruiting for the Assistant Accountant to join their finance team within a dynamic and growing business. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with strong analytical skills and attention to detail, who is looking to build their career in finance and accounting.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
* Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
* Reconciling balance sheet accounts, including accruals and prepayments.
* Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Assisting with stock and cost accounting, working closely with operations to understand variances.
* Preparing and posting journal entries.
* Supporting year-end and audit requirements.
* Assisting in the implementation and improvement of financial systems and processes.
* Providing ad-hoc support to the Finance Manager and wider team.
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within manufacturing or a similar industry.
* Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles.
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
* Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
* Actively studying or keen to study AAT/ACCA/CIMA.
