Global Learning Design Lead – Consultant Skills

Reporting to: Global Head of Learning

Location: Any Hays office location and Home (Hybrid Role)

Role Purpose:

The Global Design Lead for Consultant Skills is responsible for defining, designing, and deploying world‑class digital learning experiences that builds and strengthens sales consultant capabilities across Hays worldwide. This role ensures that digital learning solutions are scalable, engaging and aligned to business strategy. The Global Design Lead, in collaboration with the regional learning teams, business stakeholders and the global experience team, will curate and develop the learning content and pathway in support of a Global Consultant skills development framework, ensuring that existing regional learning content is leveraged where relevant.

This role ensures an 80–90% globally consistent, digital‑first, AI‑enabled learning experience, with structured localisation by regions (20%) to meet regulatory, operational, and market‑specific needs.

The role sits within the global Learning experience team, responsible for designing once and deploying at scale, ensuring that consultant capability development is efficient, measurable, and aligned to the global Consultant skills development framework.

Key Responsibilities:

Global Standards, frameworks & Consultant Skills Development Framework

* Create and maintain the Global Consultant Skills Development Framework, aligned to the “Top Ten Skills Every Consultant Needs” and Hays Valued Behaviours.
* Define global role profiles, capability expectations, technical standards, and development/pathways for all Consultant roles (new joiners → experienced → high performers).
* Partner with Regional and Global teams to align probation, and assessment/promotion standards globally.

Global design of learning content (80%)

* Lead the design of globally standardised learning content for Consultant Skills, including digital learning, simulations, AI-enabled assessments, and avatar-led or scenario-based practice.
* Ensure learning solutions are modular, scalable, and digital‑first, AI‑enabled.
* Drive adoption of 70–20–10 principles across all Consultant Skills learning pathways.

Localisation & Partnership with Regions (20%)

* Partner with regional Heads of Learning and market stakeholders to validate business requirements, identify required local tailoring, and ensure compliance with local legislation.
* Provide clear standards and guardrails for regional adaptation, ensuring global cohesion while enabling local relevance.
* Build and manage a train‑the‑trainer or enablement model to support local delivery.
* Maintain a single source of truth for Consultant Skills development content, ensuring version control, consistency, and easy discovery.

Data, Measurement & Continuous Improvement

* Use performance data, learning analytics, and global adoption metrics to evaluate effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
* Continuously improve learning content based on market feedback, learner outcomes and emerging skills gaps or new skills to be developed.

Key Deliverables

* Global Consultant Skills Development Framework and role profiles.
* Scalable digital‑first global curriculum (80%).
* Region‑ready localisation guidance (20%).
* Skills‑based capability/development pathways.
* Integration of AI‑enabled learning (coaching, simulations, adaptive learning).
* Insights and continuous improvement plans.

Skills & Experience Required

* Expert in learning design with a proven track record designing and owning digital‑first, blended, and experiential learning solutions at scale across multiple countries.
* Deep recruitment consultancy and commercial expertise, with a clear understanding of consultant workflows, performance levers, and the end‑to‑end client and candidate lifecycle.
* Expert in diagnosing capability gaps and driving performance impact, translating insight into scalable, repeatable learning solutions with measurable business outcomes.
* Experience delivering digital‑ and AI‑enabled learning (e.g. simulations, adaptive journeys, roleplay practice, automated feedback, learning platforms).
* Confident influencer, able to challenge constructively, uphold standards, ensure coherence at scale, and model Hays’ Valued Behaviours.
