Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Liaison and Diversion Clinical Lead. Liaison and Diversion is a process of support for people coming through the criminal justice system, and diverting people from this pathway where possible through engagement with service users with vulnerabilities. A significant part of the role is liaising with criminal justice system stakeholders and colleagues to provide advice, guidance and support. This post is subject to Police Vetting and full NPPV Level 3 Police Vetting.


Responsibilities

* Provide strategic clinical leadership in relation to an area of specialism using the most up to date and evidence based theory.
* Undertake expert assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for a specific group of service users.
* Offer expert clinical advice for service users, carers, staff and other professionals.
* Demonstrate advanced competence in highly complex decision making, assessment and the management of clinical needs within the specialist area of practice.
* Work in partnership with service users, carers and other agencies to ensure effectiveness of outcomes.
* Lead and coordinate the work of Care Teams, ensuring that activities encompass all facets of service users care and are achieved in line with Trust and local policies and procedures.
* Act as a point of contact for service users and families, listening to concerns, using advanced communication skills to offer reassurance or negotiate solutions.
* Provide verbal or written reports to other departments or the Operational Team Manager on issues such as complaints, incidents or investigations.
* Maintain a high level of expertise in policies, procedures, clinical practice and staff management to ensure delivery of high standards of practice.
* Carry out regular audits and assist the Operational Team Manager in implementing change.
* Identify and manage clinical and non-clinical risk, reporting unresolved risks to the Operational Manager as needed.
* Assist in managing factors affecting service delivery (finances, resources, service user dependency, staff sickness/absence).
* Manage sickness/absence following agreed policies and take appropriate actions.
* Identify areas for service development and ensure high standards of service delivery within the work setting.
* Ensure Service Governance is integrated within teams and that staff are aware of the agenda and how to influence it.
* Participate in local implementation of Trust Policy and report policy issues that hinder delivery.
* Provide feedback on Trust Policies to reflect the views of the team.
* Ensure staff work within the framework of Care Programme Approach, including assessment, care planning, review and audit.
* Coordinate interviews for posts and appointment of new staff; liaise with the Operational Team Manager on disciplinary or grievance issues and resolve them in line with delegation.
* Coordinate annual Personal Development Plans (PACE) addressing training and development needs.
* Provide verbal and written feedback after formal meetings (e.g., sickness, absence, performance issues).
* Exercise judgement in interpreting policies and procedures and contribute to directorate protocols.
* Carry out investigations into incidents or complaints as directed, ensuring timely completion and clear conclusions/recommendations.
* Contribute to the business plan and cascade it to all staff, ensuring opportunities for staff to influence the process.
* Assist in managing budgets and resources, reporting issues with potential budget impact.
* Ensure new staff receive induction and that records are kept on personal files.
