VolkerLaser repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures across the UK, offering specialist solutions including bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair, cathodic protection, steel repair and strengthening, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement, lightweight decking, access solutions and long bridge and cable refurbishment.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Major Projects division. The initial project will involve bridge restoration work in Newport, Wales on a blasting and painting contract for 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
* Overall accountability for safe, compliant and successful project delivery
* Set project strategy, plans, programmes and delivery standards
* Own programme, cost, quality and HSE performance
* Set delivery strategy and manage risks, change and recovery
* Lead site teams and supply chain to right‑first‑time delivery
* Control budgets, resources and commercial outcomes
* Manage client, stakeholder and internal reporting
* Ensure technical, design and temporary works compliance
* Drive company values, team development and positive culture
Qualifications
* Technical qualification (e.g., Degree in civil engineering or HND)
* Experience within concrete and steel repair
* Some exposure to blasting and painting contracts
* Proven technical and project management abilities
* Strong organisational and management skills
* Knowledge of CDM regulations and their implementation
* Ability to produce Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets and implement safe systems of work
* Detailed knowledge of safety, quality and environmental issues relevant to the project environment
