We’re looking for a Cemetery Administration Officer to join our team within Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and play a key part in delivering a respectful, well‑organised cemetery service for residents across the borough. This role sits at the heart of our cemetery operations and combines detailed administrative work with meaningful public‑facing duties, supporting families, funeral professionals, and colleagues to ensure every burial and memorial process is handled with care and services run smoothly. You’ll support cemetery services through office and remote work, with occasional visits in your own vehicle, to sites across Nuneaton and Bedworth to meet visitors, locate plots, and assist staff. You’ll handle sensitive enquiries in person, by phone, and in writing, providing clear and empathetic communication. This is a role for someone who values public service, takes pride in accuracy, and can balance empathy with professionalism while representing Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council in a sensitive and visible area of community life. You’ll be organised and detail‑focused, able to manage records and multiple tasks confidently. You’ll communicate with empathy and professionalism, staying calm under pressure and handling sensitive situations with good judgement. You’ll also be comfortable using databases, email systems, and standard office software. Experience in cemetery services or local government is useful but not essential, as full training is provided. Main/essential skills and Experience needed. 1.Significant and recent administration experience preferably in a public service environmen 2. Experience of dealing with customers and working with emotional and sensitive situations. 3. Excellent IT skills to include the full range of Microsoft office packages and other software packages related to the role. 4. The ability to plan, organise and prioritise the workload. 5. Ability to work on own initiative and be self-motivated. 6. Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines. 7. Ability to work accurately with sensitive data and update and maintain records within required timescales. 8. Must hold a valid current driving licence and have a vehicle available for work, to travel to sites across the Borough.
