How will you make an impact in this role?

The incumbent will manage the day to day coordination and administration of the security operations in London. This position will report to the Regional Security Manager, Northern Europe, based in London. The successful candidate will reside within easy commuting distance of Central London. To be able to respond in the event of an emergency.

This position includes providing on-call and physical operational support, investigation of cases of theft and other criminal acts, providing support to the company’s Violence in the Workplace programme and ensuring the operational security function in the region within the framework of security policies and procedures. The incumbent will also be involved in Crisis Response and some Fire & Emergency procedures.

The position requires proven experience in a security or related industry, with security experience in a similar environment. The incumbent should have excellent interpersonal skills and a good understanding of verbal and written English as well as being computer literate. There will be a requirement to interact with individuals at all levels of the organisation.

Principle Accountabilities:

1. Manage the administration of business travel to high risk locations in the EMEA region.
2. Maintain and review security approved hotels in high risk destinations.
3. Oversee day to day Security Services operations at offices in London and across the UK.
4. Support the company Crisis Response policy.
5. Assist in Executive Protection assignments in the EMEA region as required.
6. Maintain close liaison with local landlords all business departments and ensure that they are kept fully informed of all security policies, procedures and standards, as appropriate.
7. Gathers intelligence in relation to security risk and current trends which could threaten the security of Amex staff and assets in the region.
8. Conduct security audits and SAM reviews with recommendations to senior business leaders
9. Provide company operational guidance, including working towards commonality of approach in crisis situations, incident response and employee safety issues.
10. Communicate and enforce security policies and procedures covering the handling of both routine and emergency facility security matters.
11. Willing to travel across the EMEA region and undertake building security assessments and projects.
12. Responsible for ensuring that all incidents, security breaches, suspicious activity or complaints in the region are
13. investigated and reported with suitable recommendations to prevent recurrence.
14. Conduct or assist in routine Fire Evacuation drills.
15. Help identify and apprise significant security issues through the timely preparation of various statistical and administrative reports addressing any major issue likely to impact the business.
16. In support of Global Security develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with a wide range of customers within the business. Acts as a point of contact for said customers and solve problems which arise within the relationship, as well as dealing with unexpected situations. Where immediate resolution is not possible, present issues to the appropriate person and work with them to find a solution.
17. Maintain regular contact with all project and maintenance teams carrying out work at Amex facilities within the region and attend related meetings, as required.
18. Actively participate in industry related groups and schemes (Security Institute, OSAC, ASIS, etc.) and seek peer contacts to assist in the flow of security and business related intelligence and current crime trends.
19. Conduct quarterly security reviews of physical security measures making recommendations where appropriate.
20. Be available to undertake on-call duties as defined.
21. Decision making: It is the incumbent’s responsibility to develop and implement the security program. Day-to-day department operations require them to work independently keeping their Regional Manager and peers appraised on a regular basis.

Contacts:

22. Internal: Internally the incumbent has direct daily dealings with all levels of management. In addition, he/she works closely with various business units including GREWE, Global Supply Management, HR, Travel. Liaise with Global Security Investigations and other internal business units to obtain information on investigations, clarification of procedures, and requirements for protection of Company assets.
23. External: The incumbent has regular dealings with security guarding and security system contractors, law enforcement and government agencies and emergency services. Interact with the general public and Cardmembers as necessary, Service Establishment personnel at all levels, security personnel, other companies, and law enforcement agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

24. Comprehensive experience in Travel Risk Management.
25. Experience in Crisis Management.
26. Knowledge and Executive Protection.
27. Good English language comprehension, both verbal and written.
28. The incumbent must have the ability to remain calm in an emergency situation.
29. This individual must display strong leadership skills, a courteous and tactful manner with the ability to remain calm and attain information in stressful situations.
30. They must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, at times to tight deadlines, as well as being able to manage their own workload and diary.
31. The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of physical security. Be computer literate and have at least a basic knowledge of security technology systems.

32. In possession of or willing to work towards a recognised Security Management qualification.
33. Some knowledge or previous experience in the fields of Health & Safety, Business Continuity, Crisis Response or Fire & Emergency.

35. The incumbent must possess strong leadership skills to effectively manage emergency situations. This requires the ability to quickly analyse a situation/potential problem, apply security expertise, and act decisively, on occasions independently, to effectively resolve the situation with the resources available.
