We are looking for an experienced and dynamic legal professional to lead our Commercial Law Team within Wakefield Council’s Legal Services. As Team Manager, you will play a key leadership role, translating strategic objectives into operational excellence. You will manage a team of legal professionals specialising in commercial law, including contracts, procurement, regeneration, development projects, and property transactions. You will develop close and supportive working partnerships with our procurement and property, facilities and health and safety services. You will also carry a personal caseload of complex and high-value legal matters, providing expert advice and innovative solutions that support the Council’s strategic ambitions and representing the Chief Legal Officer on a number of major project boards. What We’re Looking For We are seeking a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with: Substantial post-qualification experience in commercial law. A proven track record of managing complex legal caseloads and leading high-performing teams. Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills. The ability to provide expert legal advice on high-value, sensitive, and complex matters. A commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development.
