About the Role
A quality-focused housing developer seeks an Assistant Site Manager for a traditional housing development in Derbyshire. This role involves providing support to the Site Manager to ensure that new build housing projects run smoothly, safely, and on schedule. The position requires a hands-on approach, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of construction processes in traditional build homes.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring works progress according to programme and quality standards.
* Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to maintain efficient workflow and minimise delays.
* Monitor health and safety compliance on site, ensuring all activities adhere to statutory regulations and company policies.
* Support the Site Manager in site inspections, reporting, and maintaining site documentation accurately.
* Liaise with stakeholders, including clients and consultants, to address queries and resolve issues promptly.
* Contribute to risk assessments and method statements to support safe working practises.
* Ensure materials and resources are available on site as required to meet construction schedules.
* Assist in managing quality control procedures and addressing any defects or non-conformances.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement and environmental responsibility on site.
Required Qualifications
* Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
* Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Black card.
* Current First Aid qualification.
* Full, clean driving licence.
Education and Experience
* Proven experience in an Assistant Site Manager or similar role within the construction industry.
* Demonstrable experience working on new build housing projects, particularly traditional build homes.
* Understanding of construction methods, materials, and building regulations applicable to housing developments.
* Familiarity with site documentation, including daily reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
Knowledge and Skills
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise confidently with site teams and external parties.
* Good problem-solving abilities to anticipate and resolve site issues promptly.
* Attention to detail in ensuring compliance with quality and health and safety standards.
* Competent in Microsoft Office applications and common site management software.
Working Conditions
* The role is site-based, requiring regular presence outdoors in various weather conditions.
* Full-time hours are expected, with flexibility to accommodate site demands.
* Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times on site.
* The position involves physical activity, including walking, climbing, and occasional lifting.
* Travel to and from site in Mickleover, Derbyshire is required; use of own transport is advantageous.
