Role: Multi-Skilled Engineer
Salary: up to £48k

Taskmaster are excited to be recruiting for a well-established food manufacturer in Widnes. They are seeking a Multiskilled Engineer to join their dynamic team.
To develop, implement, and continually improve efficiency, effectiveness, and value to achieve zero defects internally and externally, ensuring food safety for consumers 100% of the time. The role also involves optimising production systems and procedures to maintain quality, reduce waste, and eliminate unplanned downtime. Additionally, the role requires developing, proposing, and managing functional budgets for all projects in collaboration with the Senior Management team.
The Role
PLC and Electrical Fault Finding: Troubleshoot and diagnose faults within PLC systems and electrical components to ensure minimal downtime
Pneumatic Knowledge: Maintain and repair air pistons, solenoid valves, and other pneumatic control systems
Mechanical Knowledge: Work with bearings, gearboxes, and other mechanical components for optimal machine performance
Welding and Fabrication: Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed for machine modifications and repairs
New Machine Setup: Install and configure new machinery, ensuring proper functionality and integration into the production process
Planned and Preventative Maintenance: Complete job maintenance sheets and execute periodic maintenance schedules to prevent unplanned breakdowns
BRC/SALSA Compliance: Ensure all maintenance and engineering practices align with BRC/SALSA accreditation requirements
Quality Control Techniques: Stay updated with new Quality Control methods and implement them effectively
General Warehouse Duties: Support warehouse operations where needed
FMCG Industry Experience: Apply prior experience within an FMCG environment to optimize processes and improve efficiency
Experience with VFFS Machines: Maintain and troubleshoot Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS) machines to ensure continuous production
Spare Parts Monitoring: Organize and develop a structured system for spare parts management
Process Development: Manage technical specifications to enhance process development and production efficiency
Operational Objectives: Contribute insights and analysis to strategic planning and operational reviews to achieve business goals
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Create, implement, and maintain SOPs to standardize processes
Quality Improvement: Collaborate with the Factory Quality Manager to enhance production processes and minimize defects
Factory Layout and Product Flow: Optimize equipment layout and space utilization to improve productivity and efficiency
Special Projects: Perform any other duties, assignments, or projects assigned by Senior Management.
About You
Proven experience in electrical and mechanical fault finding, including PLC troubleshooting
Strong knowledge of pneumatic systems, including air pistons, solenoid valves, and pneumatic control mechanisms
Solid mechanical expertise in handling bearings, gearboxes, and other critical components
Proficiency in welding and fabrication techniques
Experience in setting up and commissioning new machinery in a manufacturing environment
Understanding of planned and preventative maintenance strategies
Familiarity with VFFS machines and their maintenance
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance and process improvement
Knowledge of food safety regulations and accreditation standards such as BRC/SALSA
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross functional teams.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Must be flexible to work shifts if the business requires
