We are hiring a Technical Designer to shape a powerful, expressive, and responsive arsenal for our upcoming AAA FPS. You will be responsible for implementing, tuning, and systemizing a broad range of weapons using Unreal Engine 5. This role requires close collaboration with design, animation, and coding teams to create weapons that are satisfying to use and deeply integrated into gameplay systems.
Our studio is located in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, overlooking the Harbour, in a state-of-the-art facility.
Requirements
* Shipped at least one console title in a Technical Design, Gameplay Design, or related role.
* Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 Blueprint scripting and weapon logic.
* Experience implementing weapons, fire modes, and related gameplay systems.
* Understanding of FPS weapon design fundamentals — timing, feedback, readability, and flow.
* Familiarity with animation state machines, montages, sync markers, and notifies.
* Ability to debug issues across design, code, and animation disciplines.
* Passion for responsive, expressive weapons and a drive to make them feel exceptional.
Responsibilities
* Own the technical implementation of weapon features from prototype to production.
* Build and maintain scalable Blueprint systems.
* Collaborate closely with animation and code teams.
* Work with gameplay and systems designers to integrate weapons into progression, modifiers, and resource loops.
* Prototype experimental weapon functionalities and define best practices for modular weapon construction.
* Maintain clear documentation and adhere to project standards.
