Job Description
Assistant Accountant duties include:
Monthly reporting
* Work as a team to optimise the speed of transactional close and quality of reconciliations.
* Take ownership of key balance sheet account reconciliations.
Account receivable
* Manage customer account setup process and credit risk reporting with the Commercial team.
* Sales invoicing process management with the Billing team ensure validation is accurate.
* Distribute sales invoices accurately and promptly to customers and brokers.
* Resolve customer invoice queries rapidly.
* Generate and distribute Customer account statements.
* Call customers to chase payment in line with team protocols, to reduced debtor days and maximise cash.
* Pre-legal action escalation management.
Bank reconciliation
* Produce a full bank reconciliation daily in collaboration with the Management Accountant.
* Match incoming customers payments from automated bank feeds.
* Ensure all payment allocations are done prior to automated accounts receivable processes being actioned.
* Ensure any discrepancies are identified and corrected.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate will:
* Have a proven track record in a similar role
* Have previous working experience within the utilities / energy sector
* Have excellent attention to detail
* Be an strong communicator (written and verbal)
* Have knowledge of MS Office
* Knowledge of Xero would be beneficial but not essential
What's on Offer
A salary of £25,000 - £28,000, hybrid working, flexible working hours, 6% employer pension contribution, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.
