Summary
The Baseball Assistant Coach at Oxford Area High School will support the head coach in developing a competitive and successful baseball program. This position requires a passion for the sport, strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor student-athletes. The assistant coach will contribute to the overall development of players, help in the organization of practices and games, and foster a positive team environment. The candidate assumes the role of JV Head Coach.
Responsibilities
* Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices, drills, and game strategies.
* Provide individual and group instruction to players to enhance their skills and performance.
* Help with the recruitment and retention of student-athletes for the baseball program.
* Monitor and evaluate player performance during practices and games.
* Collaborate with the head coach to develop game strategies and lineups.
* Assist in maintaining the baseball field and ensuring that equipment is in good condition.
* Support the academic progress of student-athletes by promoting a balance between athletics and academics.
* Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team policies and expectations.
* Attend coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to stay current with baseball coaching techniques and trends.
* Uphold the values and mission of Oxford Area High School and promote sportsmanship and respect among players.
Requirements
* Previous coaching experience in baseball, preferably at the high school level or higher.
* Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
* First Aid/CPR certification is preferred.
* Must pass background checks and comply with school district policies.
* Availability to work evenings and weekends during the baseball season.
