Community Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest health and social care charities. We work hard to enriching the lives of people with many different care needs. It’s exciting and rewarding work, and we’re full of pride and passion for what we do.
Since the early days, we’ve grown to provide many innovative and bespoke care services to thousands of people across England and Scotland. We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. This resonates in our vision of ‘Your Life, Your Choice’ and our strategy ‘Best Lives Possible’.
We have strong values and we’re proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. In the past two years, we have won or made the shortlist for over 100 national and regional awards!
We are also focused on our people. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going ‘the extra mile’ for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.
* We all live within our own flats at Glendale House, there are 22 flats of different sizes, and our ages range from around 19 to 70 and the service has been open from 2014.
* We all have different support needs and like support to become independent in different aspects of our life such as cooking, budgeting, shopping, prompts with personal care, etc and to achieve our everyday goals and aspirations.
* We are all independent in that we can come and go as we please, however we may also require support to integrate into the local community.
We have a lovely staff team, some of whom have worked here for as long as the service has been open. They are all very knowledgeable about our care and support and have received regular training to ensure they have exactly the right skills to support us. They have training such as Mental Health awareness, suicide awareness, safeguarding, administration of medication, epilepsy awareness and lots more! We strive to ensure training is up to date and our staff can complete apprenticeships to further their knowledge
* Our family is very important to us, and our staff team support us to keep in touch with them and include them in every aspect of our lives.
* We love lots of activities such as arts and crafts, going to the cinema, karaoke, movie and themed nights and love going out for coffee and walks.
* We are all completely different in nature, some are outgoing and boisterous and like to laugh and have a bit banter, and others are quiet and like to keep themselves to themselves and may need a bit of support to help them to come out of their shells.
* We love people who are light-hearted, positive, imaginative, motivated and people who can thing outside of the box!
* We would not enjoy spending time with people who are bossy, overpowering, ignorant or negative.
* We usually have around 3-5 staff on at Glendale, however this reduces to 1 member at night as no one has 1-1 support during the night, but it’s nice to have someone there if we need them.
* We have different shifts, dayshifts are - 8am - 10pm, 10am - 5pm, 1pm- 9pm and night shift10pm - 8 am.However, these can at times change as our staff are flexible around us so that we can enjoy the things we like to such as going to the theatre or cinema.
We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life; From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.
