Job Summary
Due to career progression within the teams, this role offers exciting opportunities for students who will qualify as registered social workers in 2024 to join the Lichfield & Tamworth Adult Social Care Community Teams. You will be part of a dynamic and responsive team delivering high‑quality community‑based Care Act Assessments and support to adults aged 18+ with physical disabilities and older adults over 65 living with physical disabilities and/or a mental health or dementia diagnosis.
MPFT is committed to the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment programme for all NQSWs. You will receive support from your Practice Lead and colleagues in your first year to continue your professional curiosity, growth, and development.
Key Responsibilities
• Undertake innovative, strength‑based assessments, care planning, and reviews in line with the Care Act 2014.
• Manage complex casework and develop positive working relationships with service‑users, carers, their support networks, and other professionals.
• Participate in Section 42 safeguarding enquiries and receive appropriate training and support to develop competence in safeguarding settings.
• Travel to community locations in Lichfield, Tamworth, and surrounding areas; a full driving licence and access to a car are required.
• Balance full‑time (37.5 hrs per week) duties with blended working options (home and office based).
• Auto‑enrolment in the SWLA and alignment with the British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework; take responsibility for ongoing CPD.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Training
* Professional Social Work qualification – DipSW, CQSW, CSS, BA, MA or foreign equivalent certified by a recognised regulatory body.
* Current registration with the Professional Social Work regulatory body at all times.
* Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
* Completion of appropriate training to achieve Assessed Year in Practice (ASYE).
* Competent IT skills: word processing, spreadsheets, email, and PowerPoint.
* Clear understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti‑discriminatory practice.
Essential Experience
* Experience working with adults and older adults with mental health needs and their carers.
Desirable Experience
* Experience in other user groups or settings (e.g., Children and Families, Learning Disability, Mental Health).
Additional Requirements
• Successful completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service Check (Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975).
• Current UK professional registration.
