Department Overview Role within the CEO Function. The Strategy and Business Office function at Aston Martin Lagonda (AML) is responsible for Corporate Strategy, Product Strategy, Regulatory Engagement Strategy, Fleet CO2 and Credit Trades and Delivery and business Transformation Job Purpose Reporting to HO / Director of Business Transformation and Performance, you will be responsible for assessing, planning and defining / developing strategies / driving countermeasures for the Business Transformation activity to deliver the Transformation ebit improvement (vs 2024) embedded into the AML business plan through to 2030. This role acts as the central “PMO” steering for all Transformation programmes/projects across AML and will need to embed best practices and methodologies across all functions, and ensure status and forward delivery are effectively reported, governed, resourced, and executed to meet business goals. The role will operate through a matrix team of project managers and programme leaders on cross-functional project activities and collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure successful programme delivery. Key duties and responsibilities Portfolio Management: Oversee the entire Transformation programme/project portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives, resource allocation, risk management, and performance measurement. Governance and Oversight: Develop and implement PMO strategies, governance frameworks, and project management methodologies that ensure effective control and consistency across all projects. Leadership: Lead and manage a matrix team of project managers and coordinators, providing guidance and direction to ensure successful project execution. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment. Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders across AML, including executive leadership, to ensure project alignment with business objectives, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage risks across the project portfolio. Implement mitigation strategies to minimise project disruption and ensure timely delivery. Resource Allocation: Ensure optimal allocation of resources across projects. Monitor capacity and workload to ensure the right balance between demand and delivery. Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement within the PMO by identifying opportunities to enhance project management processes, tools, and methodologies. Promote a culture of learning and development across the team. Performance Reporting: Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for project success – primarily linked to the Transformation ebit target improvement - providing regular updates through exco ops and strategy meetings and to senior leadership on project progress and any remedial actions needed to deliver the business plan targets. Training and Development: Build the skills and capabilities of the project management team through training, mentoring, and development programmes. Ensure the team remains up-to-date on the latest project management techniques and tools. Change Management: Ensure that change management practices are embedded in all projects, driving adoption of new technologies and processes across AML. Experience and Qualifications Essential Experience Extensive Project Management Experience : Demonstrated success in leading and delivering complex projects across functions, from initiation and planning through to execution, monitoring, controlling, and closure. Extensive experience managing portfolios, ensuring all deliverables are met on time, within scope, and on budget. Leadership : Proven experience in setting the direction and developing governance structures that ensure the successful delivery of projects across an organisation. This includes implementing methodologies, tools, and best practices that enhance project performance. Risk Management Expertise : Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across a broad portfolio of projects. The candidate should have a track record of implementing effective risk mitigation that address both operational and strategic risks to minimise the impact on project timelines, budgets, and objectives. This includes proactively resolving complex project issues, ensuring that risk controls and reporting are integrated into project planning and execution. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Experience working closely with stakeholders across different departments, such as finance, operations, HR, ensuring alignment between project objectives and overall business goals. Experience managing relationships at all levels of the organisation, from executive leadership to technical teams, and possess the ability to manage conflicting stakeholder interests to deliver agreed-upon outcomes. Process Improvement and Innovation : A strong track record of leading continuous improvement initiatives within a PMO function. Experience in analysing current processes and implementing changes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and overall project delivery performance. This includes leveraging data, industry best practices, and emerging technologies to enhance project outcomes Preferred Experience Experience of adopting various project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid models. Strong business acumen and financial literacy Experience selecting the most appropriate methodology based on project needs and organisational context, ensuring flexibility in project delivery approaches. Experience in applying Agile principles and practices (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, etc.) as well as Waterfall techniques in complex and dynamic environments is preferred. Demonstrated experience in implementing change management strategies within projects, ensuring smooth adoption of new systems, processes, or organisational changes. Essential Education/ Qualifications Educated to degree level or equivalent. Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification. Preferred Education/ Qualifications Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Scrum Master certification, or equivalent. PRINCE2 certification.
