Paediatric Staff Nurse
Closing date: 07 June 2026.
Responsibilities
* Work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse or key worker for a defined group of patients.
* Protect and support the health of individual patients and clients.
* Assess care and health education needs.
* Develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care, including discharge planning for each patient.
* Under supervision, gain experience and skills in clinical practice, facilitation and teaching and management (as appropriate).
* Work in accordance with UCLH Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and Core Standards and contribute towards achieving the Trust's "Top 10" Objectives.
* Maintain effective communication.
* Provide a high standard of holistic patient‑centred care.
* Take charge of the ward/department in absence of senior nursing staff following performance review and progression through the first gateway.
* Subject to an internal rotation shift pattern; rotate within other areas of the department where children and young people are located.
* Receive proactive managerial support for personal and professional development, including opportunities for degree and masters pathways via Southbank or City University.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register.
* Relevant teaching course.
* NVQ assessor.
Experience
* Up to 6 months post‑registration.
* Passed Foundation gateway Level.
Skills and Abilities
* Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats.
* Demonstrates evidence of professional development in line with KSF and maintains an updated portfolio.
* Demonstrates awareness of the role of facilitator.
* Demonstrates evidence of ability to educate others.
* Engages in reflective practice.
* Articulates reasons for desire to work in this clinical area.

Salary
£38,488 to £46,852 per annum inclusive of HCAS.
