SEN Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs) – Primary School

About the Role

Teach Now is seeking an experienced and confident SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Islington. This is a full-time, temporary role supporting three children with very different and complex needs, requiring flexibility, initiative and a strong understanding of SEN support.

You will work closely with the class teacher while also being trusted to work independently, follow individual support plans and adapt strategies to meet each child’s needs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to making a meaningful difference in early and primary education.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to three pupils with complex and varying SEN needs

• Work both collaboratively with the class teacher and independently using your own initiative

• Support pupils during lessons, interventions and structured activities

• Follow and contribute to individual support plans and behaviour strategies

• Help manage behaviour positively and promote engagement in learning

• Support pupils’ academic progress, emotional wellbeing and independence

• Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Proven experience working with young children with complex SEN needs

• Confidence managing behaviour and supporting pupils with different learning profiles

• A flexible, calm and proactive approach

• The ability to adapt quickly and respond to individual needs

• Strong communication skills and a team-focused mindset

• A relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential)

• A commitment to continuous professional development and learning
