Join our friendly, dedicated team at Open Door, a vital Night Shelter service offering ensuite accommodation for 12 single homeless individuals in St Albans for up to 28 nights. As a Domestic Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the shelter remains a clean, safe, and welcoming space for our guests. Key Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including cookers, sinks, and worktops Clean floors, skirting boards, doors, and internal windows Disinfect bathrooms, toilets, showers, and communal areas Dust, polish, vacuum, and empty bins in shared spaces Clean empty rooms and office areas as needed Monitor and request cleaning supplies under the direction of the Scheme/Operations Manager Perform laundry duties (e.g., washing towels, bedding, tea towels) Keep external areas tidy, including refuse zones and car parks Ensure COSHH safety data sheets and equipment usage are up to date and compliantWhat We’re Looking For A commitment to cleanliness and hygiene Ability to work independently and as part of a team Awareness of health and safety standards, including COSHH Compassion and respect for individuals facing homelessnessAbout Us: Hightown Housing Association is a charitable housing association operating across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Berkshire.
