This role will lead the British Beauty Council’s strategy for communications, content, and events, ensuring all initiatives strengthen the organisation’s mission, voice, and influence across the beauty sector. Working with the CEO and CCO, the Director will drive high‑impact campaigns, events, and digital engagement while balancing strategic oversight with hands‑on leadership. This is a strategic and operational role, leveraging internal teams and external partners to deliver exceptional outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the Council’s events programme, including at least two events per month and British Beauty Week — a multi‑event programme each October — with scope to expand and evolve.
* Deliver a minimum of eight partner webinars annually, aligned with Council priorities and growth objectives.
* Oversee operational logistics, supplier relationships, and event delivery through internal and external teams.
* Develop creative event concepts and content for live and virtual experiences.
* Manage talent and speaker participation, including briefings, call sheets, and logistics.
* Deliver exclusive member and Patron events to enhance engagement and support Events Plus membership growth.
* Oversee press and media relations, drafting key materials and collaborating with the external PR partner on targeted campaigns that leverage their media network to maximise coverage.
* Act as the primary contact for PR agencies and government communications teams, ensuring alignment with Council messaging and objectives.
* Coordinate Ambassador and Advisory Board activity to amplify campaigns and initiatives.
* Monitor and analyse performance across communications, events, and campaigns, applying insights from internal analytics and external PR reports to inform strategy and growth.
* Provide editorial leadership and produce high‑quality written materials, including newsletters, CEO speeches, and Board op‑eds.
* Lead the website refresh, management, and optimisation (WordPress, Zapier), ensuring smooth operation and system integration.
* Plan and oversee email marketing via HubSpot to drive engagement and audience growth, with execution and scheduling supported by the Digital Marketing Executive.
* Direct social media strategy and manage content calendars to ensure delivery aligns with communications objectives.
* Shape and execute the overarching communications, content, and events strategy, aligning all activity with organisational goals and brand standards.
* Lead and guide the Digital Marketing Executive, internal team, and external partners to deliver effective campaigns and initiatives.
* Manage budgets across communications, content, and events, ensuring financial efficiency and measurable ROI.

Skills

* Familiarity with CRM, marketing automation, and analytics platforms.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Dropbox.
* Experience with HubSpot, WordPress, and integrations such as Zapier.
* Strong project management, organisational, and editorial skills.
* Digital literacy across social media and content management systems.

Candidate Profile

* 8–10 years’ experience in communications, content, and events leadership, ideally in an agency or brand in beauty, fashion, or consumer goods.
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in project management and stakeholder reporting.
* Experience producing multiple events with high‑profile attendees.
* Strong delegation skills: able to prioritise, coordinate, and utilise the expertise of internal stakeholders, team members, and external suppliers effectively.
* Innovative, creative, and strategic thinker.
* Self‑motivated, action‑oriented, and solutions‑focused.
* Skilled in reporting, measurement, and applying insights to campaigns.
