The Cover Lecturer and Coordinator will oversee all aspects of staff cover, develop and manage the College cover bank register, and be available to deliver high-quality cover lessons when required to ensure that teaching and learning continue in the event of staff absence.
For an experienced teacher or lecturer looking for a new direction, this is a role with huge variety - you could be supporting with an equine lesson, covering a class in horticulture or working with butchery or bakery apprentices. Plumpton's curriculum coverage is extensive, and the successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to experience life in all our different areas and develop a strong understanding of Further Education and the land-based sector whilst providing an essential service to curriculum management staff and our students.

2. Coordinate with Curriculum Managers to ensure all lessons are covered as needed.
3. Supervise lessons for absent teachers, overseeing cover work and supporting students during lessons.
4. Report any issues with cover work or lesson delivery to the Curriculum Manager or Assistant Curriculum Manager.
5. Develop a centralised bank of cover lesson resources focused on study skills, research, and personal development.
6. Communicate effectively across the College to ensure high standards in cover lessons and support student outcomes.
7. Manage the College's cover bank register of temporary cover staff, maintaining engagement.
8. Collect and return completed student work appropriately.

12. Follow College behaviour management and referral systems.
The ideal candidate will hold a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification and have experience in secondary or further education.
