Job Title: EC&I Technician Department: Engineering/Operations Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday) Salary: £47,239 per year, plus participation in an annual bonus scheme. Role Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and ambitious Electrical Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) Technician to join our technical team. This role is crucial to the reliable operation of our resource recovery facility, which plays a vital role in diverting waste from landfills and generating valuable energy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance of all EC&I equipment, ensuring that all work is completed safely, economically, and within environmental limits. This position requires a commitment to high performance, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Repair: Execute planned and preventative maintenance tasks on all Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation equipment across the facility. Fault Diagnostics: Provide expert fault diagnostics and undertake corrective and reactive work to resolve equipment breakdowns swiftly and efficiently. Reliability & Improvement: Lead and deliver improvement projects focused on increasing plant reliability and reducing operational costs. Technical Support: Provide technical expertise and support to other maintenance disciplines as required. Contractor Management: Assist in the co-ordination and supervision of external contractors, ensuring adherence to site safety and quality standards. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely and comply with all relevant environmental and health and safety regulations. On-Call Duty: Participate in an on-call rota to ensure effective response to plant and equipment breakdowns outside of normal working hours, including weekends, nights, and public holidays. Required Qualifications & Experience Technical Expertise: Proven experience in an EC&I engineering role within a process, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment. Education: City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 / HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering discipline. System Knowledge: Demonstrated experience working with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). Control Systems: Experience working with DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and SCADA systems. Documentation Skills: Fully conversant with interpreting and utilizing instrument loop drawings and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams). Problem Solving: Exceptional ability to think logically and solve complex problems effectively and efficiently. Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, at all organizational levels. HSE Understanding: A strong understanding of environmental and health and safety issues and their potential impacts. Desirable Formal electrical qualification that supports a multi-skilled capability. Familiarity with the 18th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations
